Prices come from retailer location pages that publish a live per-gallon price, established local trackers that date their prices, and visitor reports submitted through Report a Price.
Every price below traces to a named source and a date. If we cannot source a price, the station appears in the “no price known” tier instead — never with an estimate dressed up as a real price.
Launch coverage is limited: one individually verified station price (Anderson, CA), one verified aggregate range (Orlando-area U-Haul locations), and chain-level guidance for the rest of the country. At least one competitor publishes prices across 137 city pages that look templated; we will not match that count with numbers we cannot source. This index grows city by city as prices are verified or reported.
Where a chain publishes live per-location prices but we have not verified an individual station, we show the range as an aggregate — never split into invented named stations.

Prices come from retailer location pages that publish a live per-gallon price, established local trackers that date their prices, and visitor reports submitted through Report a Price.
A price is “verified” only when it can be tied to a named source on a stated date. Visitor reports stay in the user-reported tier — labelled reported by a visitor, unconfirmed — until a source check promotes them.
A verified price is shown fresh for 30 days. After 30 days it is visually aged (shown with its age, not as a current quote). After 90 days it is demoted to “last reported” status and no longer sorted with current verified prices. Old prices are never silently refreshed.
For background, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) publishes residential propane price data. We use it as market context in our methodology only — station prices on this site never come from an EIA average.
